New Bird and Drone Wind Tunnel Lab
Our world-class wind tunnel facility for
studying bird flight and drone testing has been opened by Dean Persis Drell,
Chair Ken Goodson and our previous Chair Fritz Prinz. The opening was featured
by
Stanford News and the website of
Science Magazine. The wind tunnel has
very low turbulence, is particularly silent and can run at speeds ranging from
0 to 50 meters per second. The facility includes a gust generation system and is
XROMM ready. A full story and video showing the facility, including a bird
flying in the tunnel and a time lapse of the construction, where featured in the
Stanford News article and many other media.
